NR application deadline is February 2 (Jan 31 fell on a Saturday for 2026, rolled to Monday). May 31 is the resident general season deadline — do not confuse. NR elk tag ~$692 (Type 1 general). 75% of tags go to highest-point applicants, 25% random — so even new applicants have a small chance. Complex Type 1/2/9 license structure. Preference points build annually. Some general areas have decent odds at 5-8 pts. Apply via wgfd.wyo.gov.
